Tachi Kominka
Kamiichi Town, Toyama Pref.
It is a Kominka with a very well thought out floor plan. It is a masterpiece that combines the old Japanese way of life with a modern view of the family. The sliding doors, which can be removed to reveal a large hall, separate the public guest rooms from the private family rooms in the back of the house, showing that meetings, weddings, funerals, and ceremonies were held in the house in the past. The house is located at the eastern edge of the Toyama Plain, on a hill among fields stretching as far as the eye can see. The windbreak around the house has protected it from the wind and snow over the years. With no neighboring houses around, it is an environment where you can live comfortably with privacy. It is a 30 minutes drive to the Toyama Shinkansen Station, and from there it takes just over 2 hours to Tokyo.
