Takaragi Minka
Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Pref.
A unique Minka with a serene Japanese garden located in the suburbs of Utsunomiya City, the northern gateway to Tokyo. Its complex roof structure and robust appearance evoke traditional architecture, resembling Japanese castles or Buddhist halls. Built by a "miyadaiku," a specialist in traditional buildings, the house features meticulously crafted Japanese-style rooms with high-quality wood and Western-style rooms with chandeliers reminiscent of reception halls. This peaceful residential area is also close to Nikko National Park, renowned for its natural beauty and religious significance, particularly the Nikkō Tōshō-gū shrine. It takes only about 1.5 hours to reach central Tokyo by car or Shinkansen bullet train.
