Located on the northern edge of the Kanto Plain, Sano City in Tochigi Prefecture is blessed with both the convenience of the metropolitan area and the natural beauty of its mountainous surroundings. Funakoshi, where this Taisho era two-story Kominka is located, is a perfect example of this. The interior of the main house, composed mainly of the thick daikoku-bashira (main pillar) characteristic of Kominka, has the features of a 20th century Kominka adopting the advantages of both old and new, with an earthen floor entrance and wide modern glass windows. It is also located close to Nikko, a famous recreation and sightseeing spot. You can reach Oyama Shikansen station in about 40 minutes drive, and with the bullet train you can reach Tokyo station in 1.5 hour.
