Shimo-taga Kominka Villa
Atami City, Shizuoka Pref.
Although the exterior is entirely Japanese, this Kominka built in 1930 is conscious of the grandeur of Western-style architecture and incorporates some of it into the interior, giving it a strong sense of verticality. It is located in a fortress-like location with a vast area of land and forest on stone steps isolated from the surrounding residential areas. The highlight is the view of the coast of Higashi-izu and the sea of Sagami Bay that can be seen from the garden and balcony. It is truly a testament to and privilege of a high-class mansion built in a prime location. Located at the entrance of Izu peninsula, one of Japan's leading tourist destinations, it has easy access to Atami Onsen, Hakone, and Mount Fuji, and has no shortage of sights to see. Above all, it is close to the Tokyo metropolitan area, and you can get to Tokyo from the nearest Shinkansen station, Atami, in as little as 37 minutes.
