Chayamachi Kominka
Kurashiki City, Okayama Pref.
This Kominka is over 120 years old, but has been well renovated and cared for. It is like a Ryokan, with many well-appointed guest rooms, a Irori fireplace, and even an audio and soundproof room in a storehouse (Kura). Situated amidst breezy, verdant landscapes surrounded by rice paddies, it's conveniently located just a little over 30 minutes drive away from Okayama City and Okayama Shinkansen station. Furthermore, it's in close proximity to renowned tourist destinations such as Kurashiki's historic old town and the picturesque Seto Inland Sea with its stunning archipelago. Thanks to the nearby Seto-ohashi line, which links to Shikoku Island, the area boasts excellent transportation links and a wealth of tourist attractions.
