Maya Minka
Joetsu City, Niigata Pref.
Joetsu City has long been a key transportation hub connecting the cities of Toyama, Nagano, and Niigata. This traditional Minka built in 1980 is located only a 15 minutes drive from the Joetsu Myoko Shinkansen station. Although the region is known for its heavy snowfall, the roads are well-maintained with efficient snow removal systems, and the summers are pleasantly breezy thanks to winds from the sea of Japan. The current owner purchased this house about 10 years ago and has since renovated and maintained it, keeping it in good condition. Its most notable features are the traditional garden with a pond and a symbolic Sakura tree, as well as the expansive, panoramic view of the surrounding rice fields. From the Joetsu Myoko Shinkansen station, you can get to Tokyo station in less than two hours.
