Bessho Kominka
Kashihara City, Nara Pref.
Inside Bessho village in Nara, the narrow winding roads and the outer walls of each house are remnants of the moated settlements of the Middle Ages, and this kominka with its sturdy exterior is an example of this. This property is also adjacent to the palace of Fujiwara-kyo, the oldest and largest planned capital in Japan. Inside this Kominka, the closed-off impression of the exterior is completely different, and there are many rooms and gardens, creating a relaxed, Ryokan-like atmosphere. It is also noteworthy that the ancient style of the earthen floor and hearth remains. It is a peaceful place where you can enjoy the nature and history of nearby Kaguyama and Asuka, but it is also conveniently located within an hour's drive from central Osaka and Kansai International Airport.
