Katsuura Minka
Kihoku Town, Mie Pref.
This recently built (1995) Japanese-style house sits by the beach, offering a view of the Pacific Ocean from the second floor. It's located in Kihoku Town, in the southeastern part of the Kii Peninsula, an area known for its warm summers, cool winters, and minimal snowfall. The location is ideal for exploring nearby landmarks, with the Kumano Kodō, a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring ancient pilgrimage routes, to the east, and the revered Ise Jingu shrine to the west. Although having a car is essential, a JR train station is just a 10-minute drive away, and you can reach a larger city like Nagoya in a little over two hours by car.
