Wakamori Minka
Nantan City, Kyoto Pref.
The region of Tamba is a vast area northwest of the ancient capital of Kyoto. The region is mountainous, but there are also large plains and valleys, where agriculture and forestry thrived in the past. This fine Minka is located in the southern part of the area, in the "Nantan" area. It is a peaceful valley with cultivated land sandwiched between gentle mountains. The main house is not very old, but it is valuable enough to be called a "contemporary Kominka" because of the authentic traditional construction method and the lavish use of high-quality materials. Downtown Kyoto can be reached by car in about one hour, and Kansai International Airport can also be reached in about one hour and 40 minutes by car.
