Kurama Machiya
Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Pref.
Kurama, a village in the northern suburbs of Kyoto known as the gate town of Kuramadera Temple, is a picturesque place blessed with cultural heritage and the natural beauty of mountains and rivers. Along with neighboring Kibune, it is now well-known to tourists from far away overseas. This rare Machiya property was built with traditional features such as the Tsushi-nikai (low upper floor) and the Maneki-yane (unequal roof). The original floor plan and structure are similar to the nearby Cultural property Machiya built in the mid-18th century. This property is conveniently located less than 1 hour to Shinkansen Kyoto Station, both by train and car.
