Takeno Kominka
Kyotango City, Kyoto Pref.
Kyotango City is located in the northwest of Kyoto Prefecture (Sea of Japan side), and is a quiet town with abundant nature of sea and mountains. The city flourished with a craft called "Tango Chirimen," a beautifully textured fabric and the tradition is still carried on today. This Kominka is only a 2 minutes walk to the Takeno beach. There is also a beautiful sightseeing spot called "Tateiwa" on the west coast of the property. Tateiwa is a huge monolith of andesite rock, 20 meters high, with a straight and rugged rock surface. The Kominka retains a wonderful Japanese architectural design; especially the dynamic beams crossing the ceiling in the dining room. The house is livable without needing major repairs.
