Ashino-yama Ryokan
Kameoka City, Kyoto Pref.
Located just over ten kilometers from central Kyoto, Yunohana Onsen on the western outskirts of Kameoka is often referred to as Kyoto’s “inner retreat” due to its secluded setting. The hot spring is said to have been used by samurai during the Sengoku period (16th century) to heal their wounds. Situated along an old highway that once connected Kameoka and Sasayama, this Showa-style Ryokan remains peaceful and quiet, as most traffic now uses a newer road. Though a single-story structure, the ryokan features a wide variety of room types and even has a large hall capable of accommodating group banquets. It’s just a 15-minute drive by car to JR Kameoka station, and about 40 minutes drive to JR Kyoto Station.
