Yokoyamacho Machiya
Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Pref.
A Taisho era Machiya (built 1926) that sits inside a quiet residential neighborhood east of the Kanazawa castle and west of the Asano river. The 1st floor was used as a storefront for a fish shop, while some historic design remains on the 2nd floor. There is also a small garden at the back that can be viewed from the engawa of the Tatami room. While a full scale renovation is recommended, you can turn the 1st floor into a restaurant, office, shop front, and then use the 2nd floor for rental purposes.
