Mitoro Kominka
Kakogawa City, Hyogo Pref.
This 100 plus years old Kominka about 1 hour drive from downtown Kobe belonged to a family that prospered as a cotton trader in the late Edo period. The house was in poor condition but the previous owner revived the house with careful repairs while utilizing old materials such as fittings from a temple and timber from a ship. Besides the main house, there is a garden, four storehouses, a cow shed, and all of them have been repaired and are ready for use. Note that this property locates in an area that can only be purchased for residential use. For other purposes permission needs to be granted by the city.
