Tsukida Kominka
Kasukawa-machi, Maebashi City, Gunma Pref.
Mount Akagi is a volcano that represents the Kita-Kanto region, north of the Tokyo metropolitan area. Its majestic shape has led to religious worship of the mountain by the locals. Located at the southern foot of the volcano, this Kominka, built at the end of the samurai era, is a witness to such history. The unusual shape of the house, with the roof notched for sericulture, is unique to the Akagi-style minka, and the thickness of the wood parts is also impressive. There is an elementary school and hot spring facilities within walking distance. It takes only 2 hours to Tokyo station by car.
