Kitano Kominka
Motosu city, Gifu Pref.
Built in the Taisho era (1924), this Kominka consists of two similarly constructed houses, one large and one small, and an old storehouse (Kura). Perhaps the most notable feature of the Kominka is the entrance hall, with its majestic Keyaki (zelkova) Sashi-Kamoi (lintel) crossing overhead. Other modern renovations can be seen throughout, but the stately and delicate structure remains basically unchanged and can be used as is or restored to its original form. The location of this property is also attractive because of its tranquil setting in a village surrounded by fields and orchards, while the major cities of the region, Gifu and Nagoya, are only 30 minutes and one hour away by car. Chubu International Airport is also just over an hour and a half away.
