A former Samurai residence of the Nagai family that is just around the corner of the Tamba Sasayama castle. The main kominka house, kura storage, and annex were all built more than 150 years ago back in late Edo period. While the roof tiles and outer fences are in great condition, renovation work is required for the inside of the house (renovation subsidy available). Being only a 1 hour drive away from big cities like Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto, the Tamba Sasayama castle town is becoming increasingly popular among tourists with more and more trendy shops, hotels, and restaurants opening in recent years.
Note that this property is registered as a tangible cultural heritage and there may be renovation guidelines from the local municipality. The owner may apply for renovation subsidy for up to 8mil JPY.
